Thirty NSW heritage plates were auctioned and sold at this auction, including nineteen 3-digit, ten 4-digit and one 5-digit plate.
Shannons auction venue was packed to capacity with a significant percentage of the attendees there for the heritage number plates. Surrounding car parks were peppered with vehicles sporting heritage plates including some stand outs, specifically ’82’, ‘131’ and ‘255’. Consequently, prices achieved were higher than the advertised estimates resulting in a total of $4,263,000.00 of number plates being sold (plus buyers premium). Coincidently the highest price of $226,000.00 was paid for the lowest plate ‘251′.
In addition, the $133,000.00 paid for ‘1777‘ is a record for a NSW 4-digit plate, beating the previous mark of $94,000.00 paid for ‘1968‘ at the 2017 Shannons Sydney Winter Classic Auction. 8 of the 4 digit plates sold for more than the previous record.
