The NSW heritage plate ‘3‘ was originally issued around 1915 to the Minister for Police, and was was displayed on a Renault.

By 1920 the plate had been transferred to G.O. Paul of Wentworth Place, Point Piper.  It was displayed on a Chandler.

In 1983 it was the lowest number to be offered at The Great Plate Auction.  Unfortunately we do not know the price, or even whether or not it sold.

What we do know is that it was the only plate in the auction offered by a private seller, and also the only plate offered with a reserve ($80,000).

The plate was offered on behalf of its then owner, W.F. Buckle of Brookvale.

Today the plate is said to be owned by a property developer, and has been displayed on a black Porsche 911 Turbo for some years after previously being on a Subaru Impreza 22B (both pictured below).
