With prices for low numbered heritage plates well into the six figures and reportedly even seven figures, it’s no surprise that such plates are owned by some seriously wealthy people.
In this list we’ve tried to track down all of the heritage plate owners within the BRW Rich 200 list.
We don’t have too many entries at this stage, but we’re working on it!
All entries on this page are based on information we have found in the media and public domain.
Vic 2 on a BMW X6. Smorgon Family.
1st on the 2013 BRW Rich Families list with a fortune of $2.64 billion.
Vic 9 on a Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead. Smorgon Family.
1st on the 2013 BRW Rich Families list with a fortune of $2.64 billion.
Vic 90 on a Rolls Royce Ghost. Lindsay Fox.
19th on the 2013 BRW Rich 200 with a fortune of $1.9 billion.
This plate had previously been reported as belonging to the Smorgon family, however the following information was passed on to Heritage Number Plate Spotting when a photo of the plate was submitted in early 2015:
“Well Lindsay Fox was sitting next to us at dinner and got in and drove off, so pretty sure.”
Vic 104 on a Porsche Cayenne. Ron Walker, Chairman of the Australian Grand Prix Association.
52nd on the 2013 BRW Rich 200 with a fortune of $775 million.
NSW 4 on a Rolls Royce Phantom. John Symond of Aussie Home Loans.
91st on the 2013 BRW Rich 200 with a fortune of $490 million.
Symond reportedly also owns the plates 111, 707, 737 and 747.
His plates received a very brief mention in a BRW article:
“His interests range from modern sculpture and paintings to a selection of car license plates.”
