The holy grail of number plates in Australia are the single digit heritage plates.

Unlike in Victoria where we have a comprehensive list of photographs and information on the plate owners, NSW has been a little more difficult to crack.

Here’s what we have so far.

There are of course rumours, but we only publish names if they have been mentioned in the media or widely discussed on public forums.

According the the RTA’s records, NSW single digit number plates are registered as follows (as at 15 May 2014):

1 – No car (previously a 1981 Ford Sedan – Gold – expired 1/04/2001)

2 – 2010 Ferrari 458 Italia – Red

3 – 2010 Porsche – Black

4 – 2010 Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe – Black

5 – 2004 Bentley Continental – Green

6 – No car

7 – 2008 Subaru Forester – White

8 – 2005 Bentley – Blue

9 – No car
