Thirteen Victorian heritage number plates were offered at this auction, including five 3-digit plates, five 4-digit plates and three 5-digit plates.
Prices were very strong across all 3-digit plates, with 230 pulling a very impressive $135,000.
It wasn’t too long ago that you could expect to pick up a high 3-digit for around $40,000, however those days certainly appear to be over based on these results.
Whilst the 3-digit plates enjoyed high prices, the 4-digit prices were actually a little down compared with the final two auctions of 2015. It seems that money may be moving away from the 4-digits and into the more sought-after 3-digits.

- 8444 – $20,000 (11 bids)
5 digit:
- 22228 – $15,500 (10 bids)
- 68500 – $10,000 (3 bids)
- 70295 – $8,000 (1 bid)

The stand-out plate is 230, which is being offered on behalf of a private owner. The price guide for this plate is $80,000 to $90,000.
No other plates appear to have any special appeal, although 507 may pull a small premium due the Mercedes C63 AMG 507 Edition.
Aside from 230, all of the plates appear to be new plates offered on behalf of VicRoads.
